Young & Unique

As anyone who writes a music blog knows, you tend to get alot of e-mails requesting that an artists music is submitted for review. This is great as you get the opportunity to discover artists you may be really into before other people may come across them. However, it comes with a downside as the majority of the time, you find yourself sifting through tons of really average and sometimes awful stuff. Its been a long, long time since I found a new artist in my inbox that has made me stop and listen intently.

The girl that has managed to hit that level with me today goes by the name of Dominique Young Unique.

Dominique is 17 years old and has had her tracks produced by the girls from Yo! Majesty…quite a claim to fame for someone so young. As soon as I saw that, I knew I had to give her a listen and the tracks I came across did not disappoint. Yo! Majesty’s signature sound is found throughout the tracks in really subtle ways but overall, Dominique sounds really fresh and well, pretty awesome. This is exactly the kind of new artist I was hoping to find this summer.

The main thing I’ve taken away from discovering Dominique is that if she sounds this brilliant now, at age 17, then she is definitely one to watch for the future, this girl has got bucketloads of potential.
