Angel – Wonderful

The latest single from West London singer Angel is a real treat for the ears. ‘Wonderful’ really knocked me for six if I’m honest. Easily one of the best singles I’ve heard in 2012 so far, Angel blends subtle elements of R&B, Drum & Bass and Rock with uplifting and beautiful lyrics which in turn create a really unique and brilliant record.

Give it a listen, if you don’t fall in love instantly, I’ll probably just call you a liar.

Wonderful is released on August the 5th, pre-order it from iTunes now.

Rye Rye – Dance

Rye Rye’s album ‘Go! Pop! Bang!’ was originally scheduled for release in 2009 and it truly did feel like decades passed until its eventual release last month. I don’t know whether it was my resentment at having to wait three years for something I was literally dying to hear which led to me not loving it on first listen or whether it is simply a grower, but either way, the dust has truly settled now and its pretty much constant rotation.

Yesterday a video for one of the strongest tracks on the album (in my opinion) landed and its a real treat for the eyes.

Check it out…

I Know

I got sent this video by an old college buddy of mine called Nick, or in terms of this video Deeflux. Actually brought an even bigger smile to my face than the sun did today.

Check it out…

212 – EDIT

Love Azealia Banks’ “212”? After a extended edit to drop into your sets? Fancy it with abit of a house injection?

Well…I might just have your answer…

Azealia Banks Feat. Lazy Jay – 212 (Tommie Sunshine & Disco Fries Remix)

The legend of the subtle remix, Tommie Sunshine, has joined forces with Disco Fries to extend this already monster track into a longer dancefloor hit whilst adding a little bit of extra sunshine of his own.

Enjoy…

Turned on or off?

My opinion on David Guetta changes on a daily basis, genius at making commercial dancefloor hits = yes, but good DJ? = Not so sure. This track however, excites me massive amounts and now this video only adds to it…

Would I give it the time of day if it wasn’t for Queen Minaj however? Probably not, thank god for those celebrity connections hey David? Although, saying that…even the Queen could be about to lose her rule with efforts like this….

Sometimes I lose the will….

BIG MOUTH – FREE DOWNLOAD

Santigold? Back? At last!

‘Big Mouth’ crash landed onto YouTube earlier this week and the lady herself is celebrating her comeback by giving away her new single FREE, yes, FREE on her website.

Whether you’re a previous fan of Santi or not, give this one a whirl, I’ve had in on repeat all week.

SLOW HANDS

I’m not exactly the worlds biggest fan when it comes to cover versions, infact, artists like Birdy and the X-Factor winners singles make me incredibly sad inside… But every now and again, along comes a cover thats so good and so unlike the original it makes you question whether you’ve actually heard it before.

This track below, a cover of Interpol’s “Slow Hands” is a perfect example of this. Azealia Banks is set to be one of the biggest artists we’ve seen in a long, long time and with this cover version, she shows us her gentle side.

Amazing.

Elli Ingram – Runaway

I was forwarded this video by my housemate who has shown me videos of her younger sister, Elli, singing before. I’ve always been impressed by Elli’s vocal and her incredibly natural charisma given off as she sings, but I could tell by Alex’s face when she told me about Elli’s collaboration with YouTube channel TstyTV┬áthat this one was going to blow me away. It did.

Alex’s enthusiasm was definitely justified too and not just created from sibling pride, Elli’s cover of Kanye West’s ‘Runaway’ is original, cool and a sign of things to come for her.

If you fancy hearing some more from Elli, check out her own YouTube channel HERE.
