Just under a month ago, Haim dropped a new track, the beautifully catchy and pop infused ‘Don’t Save Me’. And now? Its time for the follow up. ‘Send Me Down’ has a darker sound to the bands previous releases, heavy on percussion and more driven in its pace whilst still staying faithful the bands trademark indie pop feel. My excitement levels for their (hopefully) soon to be released full length have just risen times a million.

Cry Me A River

Not only is this track one of my favourite pop songs of all time, but now, eSenTRIK has increased its value by producing this remix. This has got some serious vibes.

Yep, I’m a big cliche, but I’m not going to apologise..

This excites me MASSIVELY.

Hanging On

When a track has been only been up for three days and already has over 270k plays it speaks volumes really doesn’t it? Like many I’ve been wondering what had happened to Ellie Goulding recently, it seemed her relationship with Skrillex was dominating most of her news coverage, but finally shes back for the right reasons, her voice.

New single ‘Hanging On’ is an Active Child cover, featuring Tinie Tempah on MC duties and you can download it for free by following the Soundcloud link below.

Personally, I think its a grower. The positives: Ellie’s vocals are incredible as always, there’s something truly unique about her tone and range that sets her above the majority of the female vocalists coming from the UK right now, even if others can at times outdo her with strength. The main negative for me though, comes in the form of Tinie Tempah’s verse, this isn’t a direct criticism because I do generally have alot of time for him, but something about his contribution to this track almost detracts from the atmosphere it built without his vocal. Overall though, this track does intrigue and excite me about what Ellie has up her sleeve for her next release.

And as a bonus, if you haven’t heard Ellie’s cover of The Weeknd’s ‘High For This’ which she put out there about a month ago, wrap your eardrums round the link below. If you ask me, this was a pretty brave step, but she pulls it off in a very different and beautiful manner.

Wildest Moments : Video

I don’t want to keep repeating myself, but seriously, Jessie Ware really can do no wrong. Today shes dropped the official video for her latest track, ‘Wildest Moments’. The single shot video has been directed by the legendary Kate Moross who also directed the visuals to her previous tracks and its simplicity compliments the song perfectly.

Wildest Moments is available to buy on iTunes now by following this link and her debut album, ‘Devotion’ is due to be released on August 20th, pre-order your copy from Amazon here. If her releases are anything to go by, I don’t think I’ve been this excited about a debut album in a long, long time.

Rye Rye – Dance

Rye Rye’s album ‘Go! Pop! Bang!’ was originally scheduled for release in 2009 and it truly did feel like decades passed until its eventual release last month. I don’t know whether it was my resentment at having to wait three years for something I was literally dying to hear which led to me not loving it on first listen or whether it is simply a grower, but either way, the dust has truly settled now and its pretty much constant rotation.

Yesterday a video for one of the strongest tracks on the album (in my opinion) landed and its a real treat for the eyes.

Check it out…

What You Won’t Do For Love

What I wouldn’t do for Jessie Ware….

Here’s a fresh cut from possibly my favourite woman of the moment, an incredible cover of the 1978 Bobby Caldwell hit,┬áproduced by the genius that is Sampha.

Turned on or off?

My opinion on David Guetta changes on a daily basis, genius at making commercial dancefloor hits = yes, but good DJ? = Not so sure. This track however, excites me massive amounts and now this video only adds to it…

Would I give it the time of day if it wasn’t for Queen Minaj however? Probably not, thank god for those celebrity connections hey David? Although, saying that…even the Queen could be about to lose her rule with efforts like this….

Sometimes I lose the will….

1000 Minutes Part 37

I always tell the girls, never take it seriously. If you never take it seriously, you never get hurt. If you never get hurt, you always have fun, and if you ever get lonely, you just go to the record store and visit your friends“.

Penny Lane, Almost Famous

Certain songs, albums, bands even will always keep their association to the person they remind you of. No matter what happens, even if you want to lose that memory, you never will. My choices within this entry of my 1000 minutes all made it for that reason, some for that reason alone. I won’t go into the memories and the reasons because to most they will be pointless and probably quite boring, but I’m pretty sure that if the people they relate to read this post, they’ll know who they are and hopefully they will agree.

Call Me? Oh yeah, You can’t

So today is a dark day for me. Today, Thursday August 25th 2011, is the first day I will be without my iPhone 4 for approximately 3-5 days. I sent my poor little smashed screen phone off this morning to be replaced on insurance and normally this wouldn’t be an issue because the courier hands you a new one at the same time right? Wrong.

Now, due to all the little life ruiners who call and fraudulantly claim new phones, they have to take them away to inspect first and then send a new one. Not exactly ideal when like me, you’re the kind of loser that has their iPhone attached to their hand at all times.

This may seem a little lame, but when you’re in constant communication 24 hours a day with one of your best friends via Whats App, when you have an addiction to Facebook, when you check your emails on the move, when you listen to your iPod all day everyday and have a mild obsession with growing strawberry crops in CityVille, this becomes a serious issue.

I’ll admit quite freely that I have an addictive personality, so maybe I am a unique case here, but when you spend your days at work plugged into a computer (I’m a web designer 90% of the time) the world becomes very quiet when you can’t send a pointless text or give someone a ring for a break.

So yes, day one, its pretty tough and I’m only an hour and a half in. My friends tell me that by day 4-5 I’ll prefer it and not want my phone back. I’m not convinced, but I’ll keep you updated.

In the meantime, I’ve picked a selection of ecletic tracks linked to my temporary misery.

They’re all favourites of mine, so think of my pain as a benefit to you, because quite frankly, you should own them already.

Lady Gaga Feat. Beyonce – Telephone (Crookers Remix) (YSI Download)

You’re not gonna reach my telephone” – Never a truer word said Lady Gaga. Who’d have thought that one day I’d be able to relate to her lyrics? I certainly didn’t. As a sidenote, I absolutely love this remix, so it did brighten up my day of despair for a moment.

Robyn – Call Your Girlfriend (YSI Download)

Robyn comes across as abit of a desparate homewrecker in this song doesn’t she? If I was receiving one of these calls, she’d probably get a smack in the mouth, so its probably good, for her sake, that my phone is out of order.

Tegan & Sara – Call It Off (YSI Download)

Luckily I don’t have a girlfriend that is planning to call and break up with me. But if I did, she’d have to email me I guess, which by the way, is not a break up method I condone.

Blondie – Call Me (YSI Download)

Oh, thats right. You can’t……

Stevie Wonder – I Just Called To Say, I Love You (YSI Download)

Again, not something that happens to me on a regular day, but it would be nice to know that if someone fancied doing it, even my Mum, they could.

Metric – Collect Call (YSI Download)

Ok, so this ones not particularly relevant. Although, it is a brilliant song, I am a lazy dancer and if I wanted to make a collect call (do people still do that? Do those terrible adverts with Holly Valance still exist?), I still could, so theres a ray of sunshine!
