Piece Of History

Don’t you just love it when a certain track can take you back to an exact moment? Kind of like time travel, you can remember exactly what you were doing, how you felt, who you were with, your frame of mind.

I had one of those moments this evening. I was transported right back to 1997 when I was 14 years old and had just discovered that music was more than just the groups put together by the likes of Pete Waterman and Simon Cowell. I can remember being sat in my bedroom at my Dads house making mix tapes on my battered old stereo and then putting them in my walkman, turning it up loud and shutting out the rest of the world via my headphones. Teenage angst, what a wonderful thing.

This is the track that did it, released in 1995 on the album ‘Nuisance’ by the one of the greatest, but shortest lived Brit Pop bands of the time. It was beautiful then and its beautiful now.
