Glittering Gould

I’ve been casually watching the hype surrounding Hereford born Ellie Goulding whiz past me for the last couple of months. Now I figured it was about time that I gave some blog space to the girl who is quite possibly one the most exciting female soloists of 2009. That may be a bold statement I know, 2009 has been filled to the brim with fresh female talent, but something about Ellie Goulding is a little more intriguing.

Now by all accounts Goulding herself has heavily eclectic musical taste, infact I read somewhere that one of her most admired artists is Beyoncé. This itself  isn’t strange at all, everyone enjoys at least a couple of Beyoncé tracks right? But apparently for Ellie, Destiny’s Child albums were used as a measure for vocal ability…

“I’d listen to a Destiny’s Child album and I’d want to get every single note. It’s not acceptable if I could nearly reach”.

Maybe intense vocal challenges such as this assisted in developing the unique style we can hear in Goulding’s sound. Whatever happened, the result is amazing.

For those of you wanting more than we’ve been privy to so far, you can expect Ellie’s debut album in the early part of 2010 and you can get your hands on latest single ‘Under The Sheets’ on iTunes tomorrow (November 16th). If you fancy grabbing an exclusive, pop over to Pure Groove and pick it up on 7″ while you still can.

In the meantime, check out the following few remixes and look forward to Ellie Goulding becoming your new favourite artist.
